The purpose of this study was to assess the practices and problems of PTSAs in the Primaryrnschools of Oromia Special Zone Welmera Woreda. The study was conducted using both arnquantitative and qualitative approach and descriptive survey design. The sample of the studyrnwas 15 schools and 109 participants who consisted of PTSA members, principals, departmentrnheads, experts and WEO heads. Probability sampling techniques like simple random samplingrnwere employed for selecting PTSA members and department heads. On the other hand, nonprobabilityrnsampling techniques, like purposive sampling were employed for selectingrnprincipals, experts and WEO head. The necessary information was collected from PTSAsrnmembers, principals and department heads using questionnaires. Moreover, interviews werernconducted with the WEO head and experts. Finally, document analysis was conducted inrnschools. Descriptive statistics like percentages and weighted mean were used to analyze andrninterpret the data. The findings of this study revealed that the status of PTSAs participation onrnmotivating the school community, monitoring and evaluating of the planned activities properrnimplementation, and promoting awareness to address the school rules and regulations werernlow. The contribution of PTSAs in supporting and promoting teaching learning process werernlow in most cases. Based on the conclution possible solutions are recommended. PTSA shouldrndisseminate the rules and regulations through different mechanisms and plan whatrncontributions are required from the community. PTSA should strengthen their skill to improverntwo way communications and to support the community to increase the quality of educationrnand success of the students. The school should encourage participatory leadership so as torninvolve PTSA members actively in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluation ofrnschool activity properly.
