The main Purpose of this study was to assess Status of School plant management in secondary school of Dera Woreda in North Shoa Zone, Oromia Regional State. It was concerned with school plant management. To meet the stated objective descriptive survey design is used to carry out this study. This is so because the design helps to obtain first hand information from multiple sources. Two groups of respondents participated in the study. These were teachers and principals. As of study areas, 6 governmental secondary schools in Dera Woreda were obtained. Respondents were non-probability sampling techniques also employed. The data was collected through questionnaire, document analysis and personal observation. Data gathered through questionnaire were quantitatively analyzed using inferential and descriptive statistics, SPSS, percentage, mean value, grand mean, frequency whereas the data gathered through interview open ended questions and observation were qualitatively analyzed. Having gone through these all, the study found out that participation of stake holders in school plant management function was not proper. The classroom facilities, availabilities of toilet facilities, availabilities of water facilities, laboratory facilities, availabilities of library facilities, pedagogical facilities and HPE facilities In most of the sample secondary schools facilities were inadequate. Based on these findings, it is found legitimate to forward some recommendation. Therefore School principals ought to make guidelines and policies accessible and available enough to all empower the entire staff with knowledge and skills on the management of school plant. The government needs to provide adequate fund for schools using different methods to generating funds such as sales of school farm products, parents teachers association, Alumni, sales of students handcraft and Art, private sector contributions and schools fees based on this the schools are equipped with necessary facilities; construct additional buildings for classroom, library, laboratory, pedagogical center; and to maintain those available. Zonal education office expertise in association with woreda education office expertise need to provide teachers and school leaders with appropriate training related to resource management in general and school plant management in particular.
