The main purpose of this study was to examine the practice, challenge and possible solutionsrnof servant leadership in secondary schools of Kelem Wolega zone. Three basic questionsrnrelated to the practice, challenges and possible solutions of servant leadership in secondaryrnschools of kelem wollega Zone. To conduct this study, the descriptive survey design wasrnemployed. Three woredas were selected through simple random sampling technique. Amongrnthe 6secondary schools found in the three woredas, 6 of them were selected throughrnpurposive sampling techniques as sample school. In these sample schools, there were 54rnschool leaders. From these 28 of them (6 principal,3 supervisor,8 vice principal and 11 unitrnleaders) were included as respondents using availability sampling and 13 of departmentrnheads were selected by simple random sampling. From 204 teachers, 102 of the teachersrnwere selected as respondents by using systematic random sampling technique. Questionnairernwas used as main tool of data collection. Interview guide was used to substantiate the datarngathered through questionnaires. The quantitative data were analyzed using percentage,rnmean, frequency tables and t- test by using SPSS application. The qualitative data werernnarrated and triangulated with the information obtained through questionnaire andrninterview. The finding indicates that the extent of servant leadership Practiced in secondaryrnschool found low. Finally, the analysis of data indicated inability of achieving significantrnimprovement of students’ results due to the less practice of servant leadership, poorrnlistening to the followers ,lack of proper training and capacity building, lack of trustingrnothers in doing together, lack of giving priority for others idea, lack of collaboration andrnopen communication between follower in solving problems, ineffective communication andrntransparency among secondary school principals and teachers are the main challenges thatrnfaced in the secondary schools of kelem wolega Zone. Zonal education office, OEB andrnother stake holders must be encouraged to work together to increase trust in the work placernand listening to the voice of followers. School leaders should give specials attention inrnlistening to their followers in and out the school compound are major issues that arernrecommended by the researcher.
