The main purpose of this study was to investigate the practices and problems of decision making in Government of some selected primary schools in Hababo Guduru Woreda. To conduct this study a descriptive survey method was employed. A total of 126 respondents (52 teachers, 14 principals, 7 vice principals, 29 PTAs, 2 school supervisors and 22 school Boards) were selected using Yemane formula of sampling method. The data were gathered through questionnaire, interview, document analysis and Focus Group Discussion. Data gathered through questionnaire were analyzed using percentage, weighted mean and standard deviation. Data obtained through interview and document analysis were qualitatively analyzed. The study revealed that pressures of the situation , the influence of heuristics , low/little involvement of communities and parents in school decision making, poor perception, lack of team work, lack of shared responsibility, poor school management , poor decision-making, prevalence of uncertainty and conflict, and poor school management and decision-making were decision making quality related problems in the study area. From the finding of the study, it was concluded that the practices and problems of decision making in Government of some selected primary schools in Hababo Guduru was influenced by the personal values such as emotion, mood and fear to each other. As identified by study, it was recommended that, concerned bodies have to do their best, to improve the practices and problems of decision making in Government of some selected primary School leaders should avoid the problems of team work, personal values and attempt to practical. Giving concern for the school mission and vision of Schools while make decision was another recommendation. To improve the quality of decision making all concerned bodies (principals, vice principals, teachers, PTAs School boards and Supervisors give consideration for rationality of decision making.rnFinally the study recommended that all school leaders and community should work together to develop quality of decision making in the selected government primary schools.
