This study intended to compare the implications of school principal’s leadership style forrnstudents’ achievement in selected private and governmental secondary schools of kolfe keraniyornsub-city. A comparative research approach with a descriptive study and survey perspectives wasrnadopted to conduct the study. A total of two governmental and two private schools were selectedrnby available sampling and simple random sampling technique. A total of 200 questionnairernpapers were distributed to randomly selected secondary school principals, vice principal andrnteachers. 152 questionnaires was filled by those randomly selected respondents and returned.rnMean, standard deviation and independent t-.test were used to determine the differences of therntwo establishments of the secondary schools. Findings indicate that there is a significantrndifference between private and governmental school principals leadership style. Privaternsecondary school principals were found to be Autocratic than governmental secondary schoolsrnwhile governmental secondary schools were found to be using laissez-fair leadership than thernprivate one. Another finding was that there is again a significant difference in the achievement ofrnprivate and governmental secondary school students. Findings indicated that students of thernprivate secondary school achieve more than the governmental secondary schools. With this inrnmind the researcher recommended a strong supervision of schools should be encouraged andrnexperience sharing programs between private and government secondary schools should stronglyrnbe facilitated
