The main objective of this study was to assess the perceived influence of reward on teachers’ performance in Lideta Sub City Wereda four primary schools. In order to reach the research objective, descriptive research design was employed. The qualitative data collected through interview were analyzed thematically in line with the research question. Quantitative data obtained from the likert scale questionnaire were analyzed using frequency distribution (mean, percentage, and standard deviation). Census sampling was used to conduct the research. The results of the study show that both financial and non financial rewards are given in the schools in order to increase the teachers’ performance. Despite the fact that the majority of the respondents found to be unsatisfied with the financial rewards, the salaries that they were being paid and with the benefits they were receiving, financial rewards were perceived to influence on teachers’ performance, than non financial ones. Concerning rewards provision criteria and equitability issue, the majority of the respondents revealed that the rewards were given based on clear criteria and their schools’ reward systems were equitable and free from subjectivity. Based on the aforementioned findings, the study recommends that the schools should give higher weight for financial rewards than non-financial rewards.
