Practice And Challenges Of Classroom Management Strategies In Maintaining The Studentsdisciplinethe Case Of North Shoa Wachale Woreda Secondary Schools
The purpose of this study was to establish the major problems which influence secondaryrnschool students’ discipline in Wachale Woreda. The study was guided five objectives whichrnincluded; identification of the major discipline problems in governmental secondary school;rnestablishing the extent to which head teachers work experience influences the studentsrndiscipline; investigating the influence of peer group pressure on discipline among secondaryrnschool students, establishing the influence of school size on students discipline andrndetermining the influence of teachers’ supervisory role on students’ discipline.rnThe study findings revealed that there were major discipline problems among students inrnWachale Woreda such as truancy, defiance, lateness, immoral relationship, visit video clip,rnfollow up of modern fashion and denied to obey policies, rules and regulations of the school.rnIn the study, it was revealed that head teachers with long experience were enables of handlingrndiscipline problems with case unlike the rest experienced ones. The findings further revealedrnthat peer pressure influence was deeply entrenched among students and largely contributed tornstudents’ discipline. The sizes of the schools as well as the involvement of teachers were foundrnto have direct relationship with the students’ discipline in Wachale Woreda.rnThe researcher used descriptive survey design which emphasized on both quantitativernresearch method and qualitative research method.rnThe study area also consisted primary source of data and secondary source of data in orderrnto gather the necessary information.rnThere were 260 people had been taken as a sample of size like 3 school principal,23 teachersrnand 234 students from governmental secondary schoolboy using availability samplingrntechniques and stratified random sampling techniques. In general, the main findings of thernstudy revealed that multi-disciplinary cases within governmental secondary schools such asrndisrespect of teacher, late comer, speaking to each other in the classroom, refuse to obeyrnschool policy, rule, regulation and so on. This made reduce the occurrence of indisciplinerncase and created conducive learning environment for students. .
