It is believed that parental involvement in preschool children's education is profoundly rnimportant. The objective of the study, therefore, was to assess parental involvement in selected rnprivate and government preschools in Addis Ababa city administration. A mixed research design rnhas been applied in the current research supported by the concurrent triangulation method. Data rnwere collected from 200 parents drawn using a multistage random sampling method from four rnpreschools, using a 25 items which is Parental Involvement Scale (PIS) with four sub-scales. In rnaddition, an interview has been used to gather qualitative data from 13 teachers. Descriptivern(mean, standard deviation, frequency) and inferential statistics (correlation, t-test, one-way rnANOVA, and post hoc pair-wise comparison) have been used to analyze the collected data. The rnresult indicated that parents were highly involved in their preschool children’s education. rnStatistically a significant difference has been found between parents in government and private rnpreschool in the parent-child communication in favor of parents in private preschools. However, rnstatistically significant differences were not found in the other areas of parent involvementrnscales. Parent gender has been found to influence their involvement, and also mothers have been rnfound to involve more than fathers. Parents' age, parents’ educational status has been found to rninfluence their involvement. However, in this study parents’ income does not influence parent rninvolvement. As a result, because parent involvement is one of the most important factors in a rnchildren's education, all stakeholders must collaborate to work effectively to promote parents' rninvolvement in their children's education.
