Background: Abdominal trauma is a major public health problem for all nations and allrnsocioeconomic strata and associated with high morbidity and mortality in the world. Abdominalrninjury is classified as blunt and penetrating trauma. Road traffic accident is the most commonrncause of abdominal trauma in the world. Most abdominal injuries are preventable. The mainrnproblems for inadequate treatment outcome are misdiagnosis, delayed arrival of patients tornhealth institutions. rnObjective: The aim of this study was to assess the pattern and outcome of abdominal trauma inrnAaBET hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from March 2021 to April 2021. rnMethod: Institutional based retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted among abdominalrntrauma patients admitted in AaBET Hospital emergency department from January 2018 tornJanuary 2021. Data was collected using a pre-tested structured checklist from patient`s chartrnreview. The data was checked for its’ completeness and entered into Epi data version 3.1 thenrnexported to SPSS version 25 software for analysis. Descriptive statistics (graph, table,rnproportion, median and IQR) were used to describe frequency distribution of the data. ThernAssociations between independent variables and dependent variables were analyzed by usingrnlogistic regression models. rnRSULT: Out of 124 patients 83.1% were males. The age of respondents was ranged from 5-89rnwith median (IQR) age of 32 years. Penetrating abdominal injury 58.9% was the greatestrnproportion of mechanism of abdominal injury. Stab injury 40(55.56%) was the major cause ofrnpenetrating injury. Road traffic accident 24(47.1%) was the commonest cause of blunt abdominalrntrauma. Bowel 41(62.1%) was the highly injured hollow viscous organ in penetrating abdominalrntrauma and liver 7(38.9%) was the commonest injured solid organ in blunt abdominal trauma.rnEighty four (67.7%) of patients were treated by operative management and the commonestrnreason of intra operative management was hemodynamic instability. Hemodynamic andrnrespiratory complications were high in number after operational procedure. rnConclusion: Abdominal injury is male disease. Among 124 abdominally injured patientrn10(8.1%) died. GCS
