Background: - Pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) is one of the most common causes of bothrnmaternal and neonatal morbidity. Pre Eclampsia or Eclampsia was a pregnancy specific hypertensiverndisease with a multi system involvement. It usually occurs after 20 weeks of gestation most often notrntreated early it advanced to progress eclampsia (convulsive disorder of a pregnancy) it was associated withrnsignificant maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality.rnObjective: - the objective of this study is to assess the knowledge and practice of nurses working inrngynecology emergency room towards Pregnancy Induced Hypertension and association of having trainingrnand work experience to their knowledge and practice in selected government public Hospitals of AddisrnAbaba, Ethiopia.rnMethods: - Institution based descriptive cross sectional study was conducted to assess knowledge &rnpractice of Nurses in Gynecology Emergency Room towards Pregnancy Induced Hypertension in selectedrnGovernment public Hospitals found in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. The hospitals were selected by simplernrandom sampling using lottery method with sample size determination of all nurses found in Gynecologyrnemergency Room. The study was conducted from December 08/2016 to June 22, 2017.rnResult: - A total of 78 study participants were included in the study. The mean age of the respondents wasrn25.62 years in which 44(56.4%) of them were less than or equal to 25 years. Out of the total studyrnparticipants, fifty four (67.9%) of them found to have adequate knowledge towards pregnancy inducedrnhypertension. However, among the total 78 charts reviewed, 39(50%) of the charts had showed goodrnpractice towards pregnancy induced hypertension.
