This study is focused on assessment of farmer’s knowledge, attitude and practice towardsrndeforestation in Atsbi Wemberta wereda Tigray regional state. It was a descriptive type ofrnstudy that utilizes survey method. In the study 192 sample respondents were selected usingrnproportional stratified random sampling method. Data was gathered using a set ofrnquestionnaire consisted of three sections (part one, knowledge test 25 questions, part twornattitude inventory 20 questions and practice scale 10 statements). Data analysis was made byrnusing frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation, T-test and correlation coefficient.rnFor variables of the study, comparisons were made in terms of gender, place of residence andrnacademic status. The findings of the study illustrated that farmers’ environmental knowledgernand attitude is fair but generally poor in environmental practices with their level ofrnknowledge and attitude. Concerning educational status there is no significant difference inrntheir environmental knowledge and attitude. Males and rural farmers’ were morernknowledgeable about deforestation than female and urban farmers. The relationship amongrnfarmers’ environmental knowledge, attitude and practices were found to be weak. As thernglobal land sat information give that the forest cover was decrease from 16417.64 hectare inrn1986 to 10716.88 in 2014.Giving priority attention for females’ farmers to be participated inrnlocal community affairs, indecision making process and socio-economic plans.
