Nowadays heritage documentation is highly digitalized and standardized. This increasesrnthe attractiveness, descriptiveness and management of heritages; and promotes tourismrnindustry strongly. However, inmost country’s museums the heritage collations wererndocumented on traditional documentation structure as some researchers’ points. Thernmain objective of this study is to assess museum collection documentation system at thernNational Museum of Ethiopia and explore the roles of standardized museum collectionrndocumentation for tourism industry and heritage management. The study employed bothrnqualitative and quantitative research design and applied primary and secondary datarncollection tools. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used to obtainrndata among 139 sampled participants for interviews and questionnaires. Secondary datarnwere gathered from different published and unpublished literatures. As well, observationrnand figures were used to fill the gaps of interviews and questionnaires. Accordingly, therncollected data analyzed on qualitative and quantitative analysis approaches. The majorrnfindings revealed that the National Museum of Ethiopia heritage collections documentedrnbelow professional standards; and this gap impacts on: the public, heritage managementrnand tourism industry. The study also indicated that standardized heritage documentationrngives permanent significance for tourism industry. Therefore, the researcher suggestedrnthe concerned bodies (ARCCH and Ministry of Culture and Tourism) should improvernheritage documentation organizational structure and put in place guidelines and policyrnfor heritage documentation.
