This paper is intended to determine the factors affecting employee job satisfaction in the case ofrnEthiopian Insurance Corporation. In order to identify whether the factors considered are havingrnan impact on the satisfaction of employees, the researcher used Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theoryrnto determine the influence of intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction factors on employees ofrnEthiopian Insurance Corporation The main objective of the study is examining factors that affectrnemployees’ job satisfaction in Ethiopian Insurance Corporation. The study has used explanatoryrnresearch design & data was collected by distributing questionnaires to 174 employees of EIC.rnRespondents were requested to mark their satisfaction level which is based on 5-point LikertrnScale. The question related to job satisfaction consists of the factors that are supposed to affectrnjob satisfaction: a) payment & Benefit b) promotion c) Work Environment as extrinsic factorsrnand d) Recognition & e) Responsibility as intrinsic factors. This tool is employed to measure thernintrinsic factors of satisfaction, the extrinsic factors of satisfaction as well as the generalrnsatisfaction levels of employees. The average from all the answers on each question wasrncomputed and the higher the score mean the higher the level of job satisfaction in this aspect ofrnemployees work. The data gathered was entered into SPSS in order to analyse using thernstatistical tools such as descriptive statistics & inferential statistics which involves percentagernanalysis, mean analysis and correlation of independent and dependent variables. The result ofrnthe study indicated that recognition, responsibility, payment and benefits & promotion havernpositive and statistically significant effect on job satisfaction and the intrinsic factorsrn(recognition & responsibility) have more influence on the job satisfaction of employees of EIC.rnEIC should formulate a fair Recognition, Responsibility & promotion system to increasernemployees’ motivation and their job satisfaction.rnKey words and phrases: Job satisfaction, Responsibility, Recognition, Payments, Promotion,rnWork environment
