This project designed aiming for equitable road network structure for both people ofrnurban and peripheral areas. In order to investigate road network structure, the researchrnemployed GIS techniques and some statistical analysis by Trans-CAD for cross sectionalrnefficiency of the system. Types of data i.e. data obtained through methods such as, sociorneconomic data, land use map, current road network and master plan road network. Thernresult of this project indicated that road density, higher trip production and attraction isrnexhibited in the central areas (characterized by high population and important socioeconomicrnactivities of the city including freight terminals, service centers and schools).rnAs settlements in Addis Ababa are mainly established along the road network, the roadrnlength per unit person in the central areas is found to be low. Proximity to the roadsrnwithin the central areas is less than 500m, allowing more people to access these roads.rnHowever, in the periphery, people have to travel more than 1km to access the existingrnroad infrastructure, indicating the inadequacy of the system. The Mobility Indexrnindicated that have high values in the South-East and Western parts of the city. Thernoverall conclusion obtained from the indicators show that there is less roadrninfrastructure in the peripheral regions of the city and the central area clearly has arncapacity limitation.rnKEY WORDS; Central Business District, Mobility Index, Proximity, Trip production andrnTrip Attraction
