In Ethiopia maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality are the major health problems.Somernof the causes are delay in seeking and receiving skilled care, home delivery/ low utilization ofrnservice, lack of recognition of newborn danger signs and low levels of care seeking for new bornrnat health facilities. rnThis project is therefore designed to contribute to the decrement of maternal and neonatalrnmorbidity and mortality by sending voice messages instead of Simple Message System (SMS)rndirectly to mothers. The system reminds mothersâ€Ÿ appointment and makes them aware about therndanger signs that can occur during pregnancy and postpartum period both in mother and in baby. rnThe general objective of this project is to prepare content and requirement analysis and systemrndesign for the development of voice messages for antenatal and postnatal care services. rnReview of already existing mobile phone for MNCH which was developed by Clinton HealthrnAccess Initiatives (CHAI) and Addis Ababa University (AAU) and World Bank and AddisrnAbaba University (AAU) were made. Interview of a professional who was involved in therndevelopment of those systems was also conducted to develop user requirements. Differentrnliteratures, protocols, fact sheets, brochures and standard manuals were reviewed to developrnmessages both in Amharic and English in which are going to be sent to mothers/families mobilernphone. rnThe health information messages organized for each trimester and postpartum weeks .After thernpregnant mother is enrolled in the system she get health information messages every two weekrnuntil delivery and during postpartum period every week until fourth week. rnThe appointment reminder messages delivery to the mother based on the World HealthrnOrganization (WHO) Focused Antenatal Care (FANC) and postnatal care schedule.
