The objective of this study is to assess the health service intervention throughrnAntiretroviral Therapy (ART) for HIVIAIDS patients in Addis Ababa. It attempts tornidentifY and examine the major constraints to the implementation of ART program.rnAlthough it was proved that the introduction of ART has improved the lives of HIVrnpositive people and the awareness of using ART has increased in the society, this studyrnboth at the sub-city level and from the perspective of the patients indicates that thernimplementation is encountered with various challenges. While the introduction of ARTrngreatly contributes to the survival of the lives of HIV positive people, the variousrnimplementation constraints aggravate the problem alongside longevity and quality of life.rnFor the study, three health centers Kasanchis, Meshualekia and Kirkos health centers inrnKirkos sub-city Addis Ababa were selected Qualitative data collection was conductedrnthrough semi structured interview with HIV positive patients and nurses; key informantrninterviews with the Sub-city officials, ART coordinators, HIVIAIDS Adherence Team; andrndirect observations.rnQuantitative data are collected through survey method Structured questionnaire isrnadministered to collect data related to initiating the ARV drug, ART adherence, treatingrnOpportunistic Infections (DIs), receiving economic and psychosocial support, stigmarnissues and patients' responsibilities.rnThe findings of the study have shown that there is a strong sense of responsibility andrnWillingness on the side of health workers. They are also committed to help HIV patientsrnto achieve quality life with the capacity of the health center. Despite all the necessaryrneffort extended from the health workers, there are socio-economic challenges faced byrnclients.rnThe health center with its effort create link with the local Kebele and other communityrngroups for nutritional and economic support. Meanwhile, it is insufficient as comparedrnwith the number of unproductive patients and the level of poverty. In addition, the fear ofrnstigma has made clients not to expose themselves to any community groups to receivernpsychosocial, economic and spiritual support.rnIn conclusion, the study has identified a number of problems in the determinants. Thernmajority of the identified problems circle around socio-economic factors. However, inrnmanipulating the various interventions, the relation among the determinants and therneffect of one to the other should be anticipated
