The main objective of this study was to find outrnwhether or not the Global Me t hod is more effective than thernSynthetic ' Iethod in the t eaching of handwriting. To achi eve this , an experiment , for which hundredrnsubjects were selected, was conducted for six weeks. Outrnof the hundred subjects , ninety- five children in four groupsrnattended the experiment. Two of the groups formed thernControl groups and the other two , the Study groups.rnA pretest was given to both the Control and Studyrngroups to det ermine if they had a significant differencernin writing performance. Statistical computations, however, rnshowed tha t there was no significant differencernbetween the t wo groups in writing cursively.rnAfter six weeks, a post-test was administered to bothrnthe Control and Study groups. A t - t est at 0.5 l evel ofrnconfidence was conducted to determine the significancerndifference between the means of the two groups and thernresults showed that the Study groups performed betterrnthan the Control groups. A conclusion was drawn that thernGlobal Method is more effective than the SyntheticrnMethod in the teaching of handwriting.rnOn the basis of the findings , it is recommended thatrnchildren in the elementary schools be taught handwritingrnthrough the Global Method and tha t speed of writing bernconsidered and increased without affecting handwritingrnl egibility adversely affected
