The general objective of this study is to describe the morphology of Sahornlanguage with particular emphasis on the Irob dialect. This generalrnobjective includes the following specific objectives.rni) Identifying the inflectional morphology of the languagernii) Identifying the derivational morphology of the languagernThe study describes the inflectional categories of Saho nouns, adjectives,rnpronouns and verbs. Nouns are inflected for number and case whereasrngender and definiteness are basically indicated via independent words.rnSome pronouns of the language are derivatives and can inflect forrndifferent grammatical categories. Gender in adjectives is marked throughrnvowel lengthening while number is marked by adding different affixes.rnAdjectives always precede the nouns they modify and should agree inrnnumber and gender with the head nouns.rnBased on the subject agreement affixes they take, Saho verbs arernclassified in to two classes. Verbs in Saho are inflected for the categoriesrnaspect, mood, number and person, whereas tense is marked by thernauxiliary verb -in- . This verb has the same verb conjugation as stems ofrnclass II. The perfectible form -ine indicates the past tense and itsrnimperfection form -ane indicates the non past tense.rnIn Noncriminals are basically derived from adjectives, verbs and otherrnnouns as an abstract, attentive, and infinitive. In addition to nouns verbsrnare also derived as causative, passive, reciprocal and auto benefactive byrnadding different affixes.
