Background: Family planning (FP) is a process that involves a discussion and decisionsrnbetween couples and trained health care provider focusing on family health and their desires ofrneither limiting or spacing their family size. It enables couples to decide the number of childrenrnto have and to better plan their childbearing. There is a significant positive linkages betweenrnFP and maternal and child survival and wellbeing.rnObjectives: To assess the magnitude of women‟s intention to use long-acting and permanentrncontraceptive methods and associated factors among family planning users in Addis Ababarnpublic health centers, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 2020rnMethods: Facility-based cross-sectional study design was implemented in Addis Ababa publicrnhealth center.Data was collected by using a pretested structured Amharic version interviewrnadministered questionnaire on 504 participants, which was selected by multi stage clusterrnsampling methods among short term family planning users in selected public health centersrnfrom march to April 2020 G.C. Data was coded and entered into EPI INFO version 4.6.0.0 andrnexported to SPSS version 25.0 for statistical analysis.Data were presented and summarizedrnusing tables and graphs.Factors were analyzed by Bi-variate followed by multivariate logisticrnregression to determine independent predictors at a 95% confidence interval.rnResult: The prevalence of intention to use long acting and permanent methods(LAPMs)rnamong Participants was about 60%. The main reasons for not intending to use were of fearrnside effect (55.7%), to get pregnant(46.4%) and cultural taboo(27.6%). Desire number ofrnchildren(AOR:14.55,3.29-64.21),respondents education(AOR:0.36,0.20-0.64) and participantsrnoccupation status (AOR:8.75,1.31-58.41) were also significantly associated with intention tornuse LAPMs.rnConclusion: According to the findings of the analysis the magnitude of intention to usernLAPMs within the study area was(60.0%) and intention depends on knowledge onrnLAPMs,attitude on LAPMs,desired number of children,respondents education andrnrespondents occupation.
