Depression and anxiety are the most common problems among cancer patients. But there is anrninformation gap on the prevalence of depression and anxiety among women with breast cancer.rnHaving identified this gap, the current study aimed to assess the prevalence of depression andrnanxiety among women with breast cancer. This study is quantitative by design. All consecutivernBreast cancer patients who came for treatment or follow up in the oncology unit during the studyrnperiod was in the sample based on the inclusion criteria. From the total population of the studyrnsite, a total of 288 breast cancer patients have participated in filling the questioner. A crosssectionalrnrnstudy was conducted from July-September 2019. SPSS frequency and descriptiverncommands were used to measure the descriptive statics of the patients. Binary logistic regressionrnwas used to look for associations. The study found that the prevalence of depression is 53.1 % andrnthe prevalence of anxiety is 57.3% among women with breast cancer in Tikur Anbessa specializedrnhospital. Income source, father's educational status, husband's educational status, communicationrnwith physician were found to be significantly associated with depression. Father's educationalrnstatus, Husband's educational status, income source, communication with physician, enough food,rnrelationship with spouse, current medical condition affecting relationship with spouse were foundrnto be significantly associated with anxiety The study recommends that oncologists and mentalrnhealth professionals need to work in collaboration among themselves to better serve women withrnbreast cancer and to create awareness about the comorbidity of common mental illness andrntreatment procedures to the general public .
