Background: Mortality and morbidity of women and their children associated withrnpreeclampsia remain a frequent and potentially dangerous pregnancy complication. Despiternnumerous studies worldwide, the pathogenesis of preeclampsia remains elusive. Still, rngeneralized inflammatory state and oxidative stress are the major features of the maternalrnsyndrome. These maternal syndromes have recently been associated with increased lipid andrnlipid per-oxidation. During pregnancy, levels of circulating lipid increased, whilst abnormallyrnincreased levels of lipid can accumulate within the endothelial cells. This accumulated lipid, rnthrough lipid peroxidation, can cause oxidative stress and the remnant lipids can easily taken byrnmacro-phages, leading to inflammation and vascular resistance, a possible mechanism forrncausing preeclampsia. rnObjective: The present study was designed to evaluate the association of serum lipid profile withrnpreeclampsia compared with age and gestational week matched normotensive pregnant women. rnMethod: A case-control study design was used, considering a total of 130 pregnant women, ofrnwhich 65 were preeclamptic(case), and 65 were normotensive (control) at the antenatal carernclinic of TASH and Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The study was conductedrnfrom March, 2020 to August, 2021 G.C. The chi-square, independent t-test, multivariaternanalysis, and one-way ANOVA using post hoc Tukey HSD test at a 95% confidence interval wererncalculated. The p value
