BACKGROUND rnIncreased intracranial pressure is a commonly encountered and possibly fatal complication ofrnneurologic, neurosurgical, and systemic diseases. Early diagnosis and prompt management is critical torndiminish mortality and disability rn rnOBJECTIVErnTo assess knowledge and practices around early diagnosis and management of increasedrnintracranial pressure among residents and nurses working at Tikur anbessa specializedrnhospital.rnTo assess the impact of training on increased intracranial pressure diagnosis and managementrnamong residents and nurses working at Tikur anbessa specialized hospital. rn rnMETHODrnWe conducted a cross-sectional analysis of data collected from September 1, 2021, tornOctober 31, 2021, from 183 residents working in neurology, internal medicine, emergency,rnand critical care medicine, neurosurgery department, and nurses from the emergencyrndepartment, neurology ward, neurosurgical ward, and adult intensive care unit. They werernrequired to fill out a self-administered questionnaire in English designed to assessrnsociodemographic characteristics, knowledge, and practice on diagnosis and management ofrnincreased intracranial pressure. After completion of the questionnaire, they were shown arnvideo of 18 minutes that was prepared by the investigator on increased intracranial pressurerndiagnosis and management. Adequate time was given for the participants to see and analyzernthe intervention material. Then after participants were asked to do the same questions again.rnData were entered into Statistical package for social sciences version 26 for analysis. rnCategorical variables were summarized by frequency and percentages. Continuous variables rnwere summarized by mean ± SD. Associations were done by one-way analysis of variantsrnand paired-t-test.rnRESULTrnThe total correct answer score of residents pretraining range from 55.75% - 90.4%. postrntraining, the scores raised to 81.5% - 98.78% which was statically significant(p=
