Background: Protecting people against catastrophic medical expenses is a means to ensure rnequity in health. Health insurance is a means to raise and pool funds to finance health rnservices. Ethiopia approved compulsory social and community-based health insurance rnschemes. The implementation of social health insurance was delayed due to fear of low rnacceptance by the public servant. rnObjective: To assess willingness to join and pay for the social health insurance scheme rnand identify factors associated among teachers in Bahirdar city, Northwest Ethiopia. rnMethods: A cross-sectional study design was used to recruit 488 teachers. Multiple logistic rnregression was used to identify factors associated with teachers' willingness to join. The rninterval data logit was used to determine mean willingness to pay and predictors of rnwillingness to pay. rnResult: 337 (70.21%) of the respondents expressed their willingness to join and pay 2.46% rnof their monthly salary. Those who were married were 54% less likely to be willing to rnparticipate. Absence child aged
