This study assesses the treatmentrnpattern to hypertension and consumption of antihypertensi ve drugs.rnObjective: To assess hypertension treatment pattern and consumption of anti hypertensive drugs.rnMethodology: An institution based cross sectional study involving retrospective data collectionrntechniques (record review for the last five years and exit interview) was conducted betweenrnSeptember and October 2008 .rnResults: The most commonl y prescribed drugs either alone or in combination were methyldopa,rnnifed ipine. hydrochlorothiazide. enalapril and atenolol. Future longitudinal research should be done to describcrnconsumption trend of antihypertensive drugs.
