Radiation dose measurement is mainly concerned with the measurement of the amountrnof energy absorbed in matter, when it undergoes different interaction processes withrnthe irradiated material. The demand of radiation detectors has been increased inrndifferent fields of science and technology; some of these application areas are in thernfield of radiology, health-physics and personnel monitoring, in which detection instrumentsrnare demanded for the measurement of radiation dosage. The range of radiationrndetectors has been developed exploiting various basic methods, of which theory andrntechnology are on a sufficiently firm basis to allow of a unified presentation. Therntypes of radiation detectors most widely used are; Ionization chambers, Proportionalrnand Geiger counters, and Scintillation counters. The main objective of this projectrnwork being, ” Radiation dose measurement by NaI(Tl) scintillation detectorrn”, we give a brief literature review of the basic processes and properties of NaI(Tl)rnscintillation counter in an introductory chapter, radiation interactions and interactionrncoefficients in chapter one, before going directly in to radiation dose measurement byrnNaI(Tl) detector, in chapter two part of the paper; in the effort to maintain the completenessrnand coherence of the discussion. However, here we are concerned only withrninteractions that count appreciably in reducing the intensity of incident radiation
