In Ethiopia, Community health workers workforce was adopted as addressing the health carernneeds of underserved communities. Despite the vast experience with CHWs the burden of diseaserncontinues to increase in magnitude and diversity and relatively little scientific evidence isrnavailable to answer basic questions notably the determinants influencing the performance ofrnCHW. However both the performance of CHWs as change agents and the feasibility ofrnimplementing and sustaining large-scale CHW programs have been called into question. Thernpurpose of this study was to investigate the factors that influencing performance of CHWs inrnAddis Ababa city administration health bureau. The objectives of the study were to assess therninfluence of social-cultural, health system practice and policy, economic factors on thernperformance of CHWs in Addis Ababa city administration health bureau. A descriptive researchrndesign was used. Quantitative data collection methods were used. Systematic sampling methodrnwas used to identify the respondents. Quantitative data was collected from 145 community healthrnworkers of which 140 responded to the questionnaires. Findings showed that from socio culturalrnaspects, weak family support and from health system practice, too much workload. Alsorneconomically (payment, supplies and incentives) were not satisfied CHWS .There should bernimproved payments, incentives, supplies and workloads needs.
