BackgroundrnShoulder pain is one of the common reason for the hospital visit, it is a nonspecific symptom withrnmultiple underlying causes, in young mostly it is due to trauma a and in old age the result of agerelatedrndegenerationrnandrntearrnrninvolving the joint and supporting structures, radiology plays anrnimportant role in uncovering the underlying conditions the 1rnstrnimaging modality used in our setrnup is a plain film which has poor sensitivity and specificity subsequent choice of imagingrndepends on Clinical diagnosis like MRI, MRA and USrnMRI has better sensitivity and specificity than ultrasound for most of the pathologies causingrnshoulder pain, and up to my knowledge no available data is found stating the differentrnpathologic pattern of MRI finding in a patient with shoulder painrnObjectivernObjective of the study is to establish the pattern of MRI finding of shoulder pathologies seen inrnpatients with shoulder complaint.rnMaterials and methodsrnRetrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on a total of 166 patients using conventionalrn1.5 T MRI in two teaching hospitalsrnResultsrnThe most commonly imaged shoulder was the Right shoulder with 104(62.7%) of therncases .Rotator cuff tear was the most common lesion seen in 72(43.6%) of the cases of whichrnpartial thickness tear which was seen in 60 (82.2%) of the cases followed by Rotator cuffrntendinosis which is encountered in 45 (27.1%) of the casesrnConclusion: This study concludes that right shoulder is more affected than the left, partialrnthickness supraspinatus tear was the commonest lesion identified
