Urban rail transit is an all-encompassing term for various types of local rail systemsrnproviding passenger service within and around urban or suburban areas. Many of thisrnurban rail transit system encompass different types of aerial structures/bridges. Apartrnfrom similar highway bridges, fulfilling all the design and construction requirements,rnRailway aerial structures come in many forms, and each has a different level ofrninteraction with the tracks carried.rnAddis Ababa light rail project is currently under construction by Chinese contractorsrn(CREC: China railway engineering corporation).which is the first in the country of itsrnkind as far as light railway transit system is concerned.rnThe research mainly focus at assessing of the design approach of different designrnstandards and improved construction methods in a manner to suitably fit our existingrnconditions.rnFinally, the study adopts the best practice of design and construction for use in our lightrnrailway bridges and also hint for further practice.
