This study explores the extent of access to microfinance services to people with disabilities inrnmainstream society in selected areas of Addis Ababa City Administration. For in-depthrnunderstanding of the experiences of people with disabilities, qualitative research design wasrnemployed Participants of the study were entrepreneurs with disabilities operating micro enterprises.rnParticipants study was purposefully selected based on the anticipated potential ofrntheir experiences. Instruments for data collection consisted of observations, interviews, focusrngroup discussion, and investigation of related legal and official documents. These multiplernsources of data indicated that people with disabilities have much less access to microfinancernservices compared to people without disabilities because of different exclusion mechanisms. Therninaccessibility of financial services to people with disabilities subjected them to live underrnpoverty. To realize the poverty reduction objectives the study recommends that concernedrngovernmental and non-governmental organizations have to work to remove all the barriers thatrnhamper equal opportunities and participation of persons with disabilities in microfinancernactivities
