This paper attempts to identify the major determinants of individuals labourrnforce participation in Gromia Region and to examine how theserndeterminants are associated with individuals labour force participation. Therndata from the J 994 Population and Housing census of Ethiopia, arernanalyzed by the logistic regression model. A number of potential variablesrnfor inc/us ion in the logistic regression are identified on the basis of resultsrnof the chi-squared tests and also on the basis of theoretical models whichrnexplain individual 's participation in the labour force. The results suggestrnthat age, sex, marital status, educational level, ethnicity, place of residencernand disability status are important factors while religion does notrnsign!ficantly affect individuals in Gromia Region entering into the labourrnforce.rnFinally, J would like to forward that up to date investigation in the workrnstatus of individuals at national and/or regional level is very important.rnResearchers who try to examine the determiningfactors of work status in thernfuture have to take into account those variables that are not included in thisrnstudy.
