This paper is a project on the measurement and analysisrnof poverty in Ethiopia. Various statistical techniques ofrnmeasuring poverty are applied. Therefore, in this paper,rndifferent measures of poverty will "be reviewed and discussed,rnand apply them to Ethiopian setting to compute the results andrnrecommend the one that is appropriate for Ethiopia.rnIn particular, among others, two measurements, namelyrnDeficiency Risk Estimate and Gini-Coefficient, are applied tornmeasure poverty indicators of the country. They are used tornidentify the percentage of under-nourished in a community inrnEthiopia and the distribution of social services of differentrnadministrative regions of the country, like health services andrneducation, respectively.rnWhere as the other measures discussed in this paper, thatrnis, the head-count ratio, the poverty-Gap, Sen's Index andrnFoster, Greer and Thorbecke measures are used to measure thernincidence; intensity and severity of poverty in Ethiopia usingrnincome distribution
