The participation of female education is lower than males. This is attributed tornlow rate of enrollment and high rate of dropout of female students. The purposernof this study was to investigate problems of girls' dropout in secondary schoolsrnof Arsi zon e. The investigation was largely related to factors influencingrndropout, trend of dropout rate and intervention strategies that were perceivedrnto increase girls' retention at school. To achieve this, the study was conductedrnby using descriptive survey method. The data were collected throughrnquestionnaire from 144 dropout and 78 teachers by using simple random andrnpurposive sampling techniques. The data gathered were analyzed by adoptingrnpercentage cohort scale and chi-square statistical techniques. The finding of thernstudy it indicates there is high rate of female dropout in secondary school ofrnArsi zone. It also found high rate of dropout is the cumulative effects of inschoolrnand out-of-school factors. Specifically, it is attributed to grade repetitionrnlong distance to school, lack of gender sensitive facilities, direct and indirectrncosts of school, early ma rriage, believe in low return of female education andrnparents' low level of education.
