The general objective of this study was to assess the current practice ofrnNFAE programs and the level of awareness of education officers,rnsupervisors and facilitators towards NFAE programs in Bale zone ofrnOromia. To achieve this objective, research questions focusing onrnplanning, organization, resource allocation, evaluation and communityrnparticipation on NFAE programs, understanding of NFAE implementersrnabout modem approaches of NFAE programs were raised. In order tornseek answers to the research questions raised, a descriptive surveyrnresearch methodology was used. Questionnaires for facilitators andrnsupervisors; interview for Zonal and Woreda education officers; andrnfocus group discussion for adult learners; additionally observationrnchecklist and document analysis were used to gather more data for thernstudy. The data collected was analyzed by using percentages, meanrnand grand mean. As the findings of this study reveals, the emphasisrngiven to the program is low; there is lack of clear understanding onrnNFAE programs; the organization of the program is weak and thernmonitoring and evaluation of NFAE programs is low. Thus, based on thernfindings obtained and the conclusion made, awareness creation forrnimplementers on planning and organizing the program; assigningrnenough and appropriate resources for the program independently; andrnestablishing sustainable system of monitoring and evaluation of NFAErnprograms were the major solutions proposed as recommendations forrneffective and efficient implementation of NFAE programs in Bale Zone.
