The main purpose of this research was to compare early, age appropriate-arranged,rnand love-matched married persons in terms of their marital adjustment. A sample ofrn210 married individuals (105 males and 105 females) was selected from MottarnAdministrative Town through purposive sampling technique. The data were collectedrnthrough rating scale and analyzed statistically. The results showed that the generalrnpatterns of marital adjustment scores were found above the average/ mid point of thernscale. The results also indicated that there were statistically s ignificant differences inrnmarital adjustment among early, age appropriate-arranged, and love-matchedrnma/Tied individuals in the sense that love-matched married have significantly betterrnmarital adjustment than the two groups. As regards marital adjustment dimensions,rn""--' early married.Jv.dividuals had significantly lower mean score on consensus andrnsatisfaction dimensions than both age appropriate-arranged and love-matchedrnma.rried individuals. In addition, early married individuals had significantly lowerrnmean score on cohesion dimension than love-matched married individuals. Moreover,rnlove .. matched participants had higher mean score than both early and agernappropriate-arranged married participants on affectional expression dimension.rn~ Concerning demographic factors, marital adjustment was significantly related to agernat the present marriage. As regards sex difference in ma.rital adjustment, statisticallyrnsignificant difference was fOUnd between early married males and females. That is,rnmales have higher marital adj;;s[rnent than females . However, significant sexrndifferences in marital adjustment were not found in both age appropriate-arrangedrnand love-matched married individuals. Bes ides, early ma/Tied males werernsignificantly higher than females on satisfaction and affedional expressionrndimensions. Moreover, age appropriate-arranged' married males were significantlyrnhigher on affectional expression dimension than female counter parts. On the otherrnhand, there were no significant differences observed between love-matched malesrnand females on the four dimensions of marital adjustment. At las t; the findings ofrnthis research are only paint part of the picture, so in the future in-depth researchrnshould be conducted on this very basic issue including other variables that mayrninfluence marital adjustment.
