An assessment was made mainly to describe the knowledge about and altitude towardsrnHIVIVCT of cadets at the Major General Haylom Araya Military Academy. Subsequently,rnan altempt was made to see the effects of cadets' residence, marital status and educationrnlevel on cadets' knowledge and at/itudes towards HIVIVCT.rnTo at/ain this objective a sample of 193 male cadets was randomly selected from arnpopulation of 595 cadets and all the available female cadets' (16) were included. Inrnaddition, (18) cadets were purposefully selected for the Focus Group Discussion (FGD).rnThe collected data were analyzed using SPSS soft ware.rnAnalysis of the qualitative and quantitative data indicated that the majority of the cadetsrnhave got good knowledge of HIVIVCT and showed afavorable altitude towards HIVIVCT,rnbut with some reluctance to get the service.rnMoreover, cadets didn't show significant knowledge differences on HIVIVCT acrossrnresidence and education levels but marital status. No significant at/itude differences wasrnobserved towards HIVIVCT across marital status and education levels except residencernwhere urban raised cadets were seen with more favorable attitudes than rural raisedrncadets. Moreover, knowledge about HIVIVCT was not seen significantly correlated withrnaltitude towards HIVIVCT.rnIt was concluded that cadets had good knowledge and altitude towards HIVIVCT despiternsome reluctance to test their anti bodies against HIV
