The purpose of this study is to assess the status and practice of TVET in Gambellarnregion taking the current national TVET strategy as benchmark and give relevantrnfeedback, so that the TVET system of the region is in line with the national TVETrnstrategy. To conduct this study, participants were selected using stratified andrnconvenience sampling in which J 66 individuals participated, out of these 73rntrainers, 92 trainees and J individual from TVET agency of the region werernparticipated. To collect data from respondents, two sets of questionnaires werernadministered for trainers and trainees. To supplement the quantitative datarngathered through questionnaire interview was held with TVET authority of thernRegion. The data obtained summarized, analyzed and presented to answer thernresearch questions that are used to assess the actual status and practice of thernTVETs in the region. According to the findings of the study, TVET objective of thernregion is found to be mostly congruent with the national TVET strategy. Also inrnapplication of the conceptual principles of the national TVET strategy, creatingrnstrong public private partnership, creating outcome based TVET strategy, createrncomprehensive TVET system were found to be practicable in the regiOn. Whilernmaking governmental TVET sectors center of technology capabilities and transfer,rndecentralization and TVET stakeholders' involvement were found not to bernpracticable, in the application of the guiding principles of the national TVETrnstrategy, pathway (creating a possibility of career progression), lifelong learning,rngender sensitivity by giving equal opportunities for female trainees, contribution tornfight against HlVIAlDS and creating fleXibility in the TVET delivery throughrnorganization TVET programs in a modular fashion, supporting trainees byrncooperative trainings, preparing trainees for self employment and introdUCing lCTrnto the training system were found to be practicable in the region, However, givingrnlabor demand oriented trainings in the region and ensuring quality and relevancernof trainings were not found to be practicable in the region, management andrnflinching somehow were found to be in line with the national TVET strategy withrnsome needs of improvement, Based on these findings the researcher recommendedrnto TVET authorities of the to establish COC in the region for the sake of quality andrncreating outcome based TVET system and also TVET institutes found in the regionrnadvised to diversify their financing mechanisms through internal revenue donernwithin the institutes and to include all the relevant stakeholders in theirrnmanagement board.
