This study sets out to examine vocational teachers/trainers level of job satisfaction andrnthe underlying factors in City Government of Addis Ababa .. The methods chosen in thisrnstudy was descriptive survey involving both qualitative and quantitative technique. Thernstudy employed stratified sampling techniques for selection of colleges and departments.rnDepartment members were selected through simple random sampling. The samplernconsisted of 220 teachers/trainers from four colleges. Questionnaire and interviews werernused as data collection instruments. Unstructured interview was employed to gatherrnqualitative data from colleges' deans,vocational counselors and human resource staffs.rnUnstructured interviews were also cond'!.cted with experts and process owner workers inrnthe Ministry of Education TVET sectors, Addis Ababa City TVET Agency. Descriptivernstatistics such as percentages were analyzing quantitative data while the open ended andrninterview ·data were transcribed, coded and interpreted. The results obtained from thernstudy suggest that the main reasons for dissatisfaction were unsuitability workingrncondition, i.e. inadequacy or unavailability of training materials, reference, machines andrnequipment. Besides, there is lack of incentives such as of further education and promotionrnpotentials, low payment and benefits. Enrolling academically weak trainees in the TVETrnprogram without their interest or choice of trainees, occupational standards and curricularnare unstable are also contributors' factors. Furthermore, lack of understanding byrnmanagements' of the TVET colleges about cooperative mode of training by thernmanagements of the TVET Colleges is also a limitation. The above institutional factorsrntogether with skill gaps of teachers/trainers negatively affected the effectiveness outcomebasedrntraining .These in turn impacts satisfaction of teachers/trainers in their workingrnareas. Based on the findings and conclusions, recommendations are made to address thernexisting problems in the City Government of Addis Ababa.rnKey words: job satisfaction, vocational teachers/trainers, TVETcolleges
