Forming intimate friendship is an important developmental milestcnernamong young persons including children and adolescents. This studyrnattempted to examine the nature and patterns of intimate friendshiprnamong primary, secondary and preparatory school students (this includerndimensions of intimacy, age and sex variables).rnA total of 237 participants (136 male and 101 female) were randomlyrnselected from grade 5,6,9 and 12 .Data were collected through arnquestionnaire consisting of issue pertaining intimate friendship: selfdisdosure,rnloyalty and trust, imposition, common activity, supportiveness,rnexclusiveness, attachment and understanding. T-tests and one wayrnANOVA we re used to test out the presence of intimacy and to determinernage and sex difference on the different mean scores on the differentrndimensions of intimate friendship.rnThe result generally indicated the existence of intimate relationship amongrnthe participants and that there was a significant statistical differencernamong primary, secondary and preparatory school students in intimaternfriendship. But, no significant difference was observed between the twornsexes.rnRecommended that other sources of variations related to the intimacy ofrnprimary, secondary and preparatory school students should be taken intornaccount for future studies.
